In search of the Herynya Monastery, 1371.

On March 29, the expedition of the Carpathian Institute of History, Ethnology and Archeology of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University consisting of professor Mykola Kuhutyak, associate professor Boris Khruslov, and specialist Roman Kobylnyk, conducted field research on the location of the ancient monastery in the village of Herynya, Dolyna Territorial Community, Kalush District. A Christian monastery of the princely period is mentioned in written sources in 1371 in Dyrynya (the modern village of Herynya).

Scientists conducted a visual survey of the territory, localized the area where the monastery was probably located. Local historian Ihor Senkiv provided significant help in the search for the historical object. The ancient monastic tradition led to the future appearance of the Hoshiv Monastery of the Basilian Fathers, the center of Ukrainian spiritual and national life.
