A library was opened at the Observatory on Independence Day and “Hamlet” was performed

On August 24, a library was opened at the International Scientific Center “Observatory” of the Precarpathian and Warsaw Universities on Mount Pip Ivan (2028 m). In addition, for Independence Day, as part of the art project “THEATRE DIVES AT THE OBSERVATORY” of the Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk and the Ivano-Frankivsk National Academic Drama Theater, the neo-opera-horror “HAMLET” was performed. On Saturday, the performance was broadcast on the theater’s social networks, where the performance was a huge success.

The opening ceremony of the library was attended by the vice-rector of our university, Yaroslav Shynkaruk, the head of economic services of the MNC “Observatory” Vasyl Koshelyuk, employees, graduates and students of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

The consecration of the premises was conducted by Archbishop Julian of Kolomyia and Kosiv. He presented the MNC library with the complete collection of works of St. John Chrysostom in three volumes and the Sermons of the Clergy of the Kolomyia Diocese in four volumes.

Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University expresses its gratitude to the patrons of this significant event – the founder of the SKOGUR cottage town Andriy Martyshchuk and the head of the FROP Company Vasyl Fetsents! It is thanks to them that the tallest library in Ukraine appeared!

For the first time in 2020, the play “Nation” based on the works of Maria Matios was performed on the top of Mount Pip Ivan. The event was called “Unattainable Nation”. The following year, on the walls of the observatory, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, actors showed the audience “Aeneid” by Ivan Kotlyarevsky. In August 2022, the poster play “Fight for Ukraine” became a message to the whole world that we are alive! That we are a Nation that is fighting for its independence with its own blood and will definitely defeat the enemy. Last year, the words of the patron of our University, Vasyl Stefanyk, were heard from the top of the mountain. The actors masterfully played the parable “She is the Earth” based on the writer’s short stories about the holy images on the iconostasis of the planet, about the martyrs and righteous people of human history crying out for mercy and love, about the reunion of the Mother and the Son, about the end of the war.

This year, the play “HAMLET” was chosen to give an affirmative answer to the question “to be or not to be?” to the Ukrainian nation.
