Today, December 6, a joint meeting of the Presidium of the National Union of Local History Scholars of Ukraine, its regional branch, and the university faculty, headed by Acting Rector Ihor Tsependa, was held at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
At the event, the Chairman of the National Union of Local History Scholars of Ukraine, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Oleksandr Reient, together with Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Oleksandr Lysenko, presented honorary awards to university figures.
In particular: Ihor Tsependa, acting rector of the university, was awarded the Hero of Ukraine Mykhailo Sikorsky Prize. Volodymyr Velykochiy, dean of the Faculty of Tourism, received the Dmytro Yavornytsky Prize.
Also awarded with honorary diplomas for significant achievements in the field of local history, preservation of monuments of material and spiritual culture of Ukraine were: Ihor Hurak, Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations; Stepan Borchuk, Professor of the Department of World History; Mykola Vitenko, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Central and Eastern Europe and Special Branches of Historical Science; Yuriy Dovhan, Associate Professor of the Department of World History; Oleh Yehreshiy, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History; Oleh Zhernokleyev, Professor, Head of the Department of World History; Andriy Korolko, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History; Vasyl Marchuk, Professor of the Department of Political Institutions and Processes; Igor Raykivskyi, Professor, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History.
In addition, the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the National Union of Local History Scholars of Ukraine Mykhailo Kosylo presented the commemorative medals “Volodymyr Hrabovetskyi” to Professor, Head of the Department of Ethnology and Archaeology, Director of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians Mykola Kuhutyak and “Mykhailo Holovatyi” to Professor of the Department of Political Science Ivan Monolatiy.
Acting Rector Ihor Tsependa thanked the National Union of Local History Scholars of Ukraine for their high assessment of the University’s contribution to the development of local history. He emphasized the importance of popularizing historical research: “The most important thing in historical science is not only thorough scientific research, but also broad popularization, which forms love for the native land and the spiritual element of our society.”
The event became an important event for the scientific community of the University and confirmed the high level of recognition of the achievements of its employees in the field of local history.
