Petro Stepanovych Siredzhuk was born in 1949 in the village of Kosmach in the Kosiv region. He graduated from the Faculty of History and Pedagogy of the Vasyl Stefanyk Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute. He worked as a history teacher in the Ternopil region, an employee in the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Lviv. 1994-2001 – a lecturer at the Department of Social Disciplines of the Lviv Institute of Internal Affairs.

Since 2008 – leading specialist of the Department of History of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Petro Siredzhuk – author of 215 scientific papers, researcher of documents about the first mentions of settlements in our region, fellow of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, honorary member of the Hutsul Research Institute in Chicago, laureate of the Ivan Krypiakevych and Mark Cheremshyna awards, and the V. Jakubyak journalism award.
