Our ISC “Observatory” has joined the international network of field stations INTERACT

The International Scientific Center “Observatory” of the Precarpathian and Warsaw Universities (MSC) has joined the international network of field stations INTERACT.

The non-profit association INTERACT (International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic) is an international platform for terrestrial research and monitoring in the Arctic and cold temperate ecosystems. This network includes 94 terrestrial field stations located in the Arctic, boreal and alpine regions of 18 countries.

Every year, the INTERACT platform hosts thousands of researchers from all over the world. INTERACT has become a popular platform for scientific collaboration and facilitating fieldwork in the Arctic regions and temperate mountains. About 15,000 researchers visit more than 90 research stations each year, provide advice to governments, reach millions of people, offer educational services in more than 60 countries, and practice science diplomacy. INTERACT has been repeatedly recognized as a “success story of the European Union.” In 2022, participation in the network of Russian stations was terminated due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Our MNC “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan became the first field station in Ukraine to join the international INTERACT network!

The INTERACT Non-Profit Association offers INTERACT stations as a long-term scientific platform for implementing scientific projects and solving social problems at the local and global levels.

The accession of the MNC “Observatory” to the INTERACT Non-Profit Association (INPA) network will allow:

– to join international cooperation, scientific work, and INTERACT events in the future;

– to exchange knowledge and experience, information and develop guidelines and best practices for managing research stations in harsh environmental conditions;

– to participate in meetings between station managers 1–2 times a year,

– to participate in grant programs and project proposals of the network.
