In July, six faculties of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University became active participants in the second shift of our children’s sports and recreation camp “Smerichka”, where they worked with future entrants – students of grades 9-11 (73 people) and partly with students of grades 8 (about 40 people). The geography of the participants covered not only the Carpathian region, but also Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Odessa, Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine.
University Days became a space for students to learn, discover, be acquainted with faculties, teachers, students, as well as with the values that university education forms.
On July 7, the day of the Faculty of Philology took place. A team of teachers and students organized a cognitive quest with three philological stations: “Journalistic” (fundamentals of media literacy), “Philological Battle” (Ukrainian language), “Foreign acquaintance” (first phrases in Polish). The event combined knowledge, play, and linguistic intuition.
On July 9, the camp participants immersed themselves in the world of foreign languages. Teachers and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages conducted a series of team games – from riddles and creative stories to cognitive exercises about Germany. Participants worked in teams, discovered new words, practiced speaking, and learned interesting facts about the professions of a teacher and translator.
On July 10, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports organized an active and eventful day. The program included “Cool Game” competitions, master classes in archery, self-defense, first aid, and the “Tourist Express” quest. The event was attended not only by teachers and students, but also by graduates and athletes of the city archery federation. Also on July 10, the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations held a training session. Associate Professor Iryna Sernyak presented the project “Girls Go Circular” to pupils, dedicated to the formation of entrepreneurial skills and understanding of the closed-loop economy – an important topic for the modern young generation.
On July 15, the Faculty of Pedagogy held an intellectual game “Fact Checking: Intelligence in Action”. According to the plot of the game, the participants saved the symbol of the Carpathians – the lynx – from information manipulation. After four rounds, the schoolchildren trained critical thinking, fact-checking skills, the ability to distinguish between truth and fake, and analyze the language and content of messages. On the same day, the Faculty of Psychology organized an art therapy meeting “My Inner Self”, which helped the participants had better understand their own emotions, self-image, and internal resources. Working with color, form, associations, and emotional background has become an important tool for self-expression and reflection. Carpathian University in “Smerichka” did not just present its educational opportunities – it became a co-participant in changes in the thinking, dreams, and ideas about the future of each participant.
We thank all the teachers, students, and partners who made this cooperation meaningful, lively, and inspiring.
Together with the faculties, members of the team of the Stefanyk Pro Way University Education Navigation Center, led by Halyna Voloshchuk, visited our future students every time. The emotions of both children and adults were recorded by the press service of the KNUVD in the person of Anastasia Rakaeva.
Another change is ahead and an interesting combination of recreation with children’s acquaintance with other faculties and institutes of our university!
