Participation in the work of the jury of the “History of Ukraine” section of the All-Ukrainian competition-defense of scientific research works of students-members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

On February 17, 2024, the II (regional) stage of the All-Ukrainian competition for the defense of research works of students-members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from the “History of Ukraine” section took place in an online format at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. As in previous years, the members of the jury were: candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and methods of teaching history Andriy Zinoviyovych Korolko, candidate of historical sciences, leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archeology of the Carpathians Bohdan Valeriyovych Paska and candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of world history Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Marushchenko.

Conducting of the II (regional) stage of the All-Ukrainian competition-defense of research works of students-members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the conditions of the horrors of the Russian-Ukrainian war was conducted remotely in three stages. The structural division of points for the evaluation of competitive works was as follows: extramural evaluation of research works (maximum number of points – 20); poster defense (maximum number of points – 45); scientific conference (maximum number of points – 35).

13 people representing different districts of Ivano-Frankivsk region took part in the competition. Six participants represented educational institutions in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, one each – schools in the cities Kolomyia, Rohatyn, Halych, Horodenka, the villages Kryhivtsi, Stari Bogorodchany and Nizhny Verbizh. Eight eleventh graders, one-tenth grader, three ninth graders and one-eighth grader took part in the competition.

During the defense of students’ competitive works, the members of the jury provided valuable recommendations for schoolchildren on the correct design of scientific works, classification of primary sources and literature, during the discussion – skillful formulation of questions to their fellow student-contestants. The meeting lasted nine hours with a short break and ended with the selection of the winners, information about which can be found on the website of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

All participants were encouraged to continue developing their talents at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University as the largest center for researching the history of Ukraine and historical regional studies in Prykarpattia, in particular at the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations.
