On April 26, the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations opened a museum and exhibition space as part of the project “History in Artifacts: The Present of the Russian-Ukrainian War”. The event began with a moment of silence and the performance of the national anthem of Ukraine.
In his welcoming speech, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the University, Professor Serhiy Sharyn, noted the importance of the opening of the museum and exhibition space: “During the war, everyone should be on their front. We are on the educational front, our girls and boys defend the country on the real military front. Opening this museum and exhibition space, we understand that it is a symbol of indomitability, a symbol of our great gratitude and respect for those people who left their place of study here, taking up arms to defend the country. The students and graduates of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations fight and give their lives for the dream of living in a strong and peaceful country. The opening of this space is a kind of personification of support and honoring those who fought and, unfortunately, died in the Russian-Ukrainian war.”
The representative of the “Warm City” platform, a graduate of the Faculty, Iryna Stasiuk, and the dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Ihor Hurak, also spoke with congratulations, who thanked the team of students for the work done and wished them good luck in the further development of the project, which is relevant in our time.
“The idea of creating a museum and exhibition space within the framework of the project “History in artifacts: the present of the Russian-Ukrainian war” arose among our students. It contains photographs and objects of our students and graduates who fought or died in the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. This is an example of the preservation of our historical memory and a sign that they are always with us!” – stressed the dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, associate professor Ihor Hurak.
After that, in his speech, the captain of the team, the head of the project “History in Artifacts: the Present of the Russian-Ukrainian War”, Master’s student Vladyslav Polivchuk, introduced the details of the creation of the museum and exhibition space. It all started with the fact that on March 16-17, the team of the Faculty of History of Political Science and International Relations, consisting of students Vladyslav Polivchuk, Anastasia Barylyak, Yana Yatsiv, and Roman Pavlyuk, took part in the “School of Grant Management for Students”, which was organized by the “Warm City” platform. After writing and defending the application before the commission, the Faculty’s team won.
