Eternal memory of the Hero!

Another sad news came to our University. On April 30, Marko Vuyanko, a graduate student of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, died while performing a combat mission. He came under artillery fire and received a shrapnel wound that ended his life.

The memorial service for the fallen Hero will be held tomorrow, May 3, at the House of Sorrows at 3 Rebeta Street at 6:00 p.m.

 Farewell will be held on May 4 in the Cathedral Church of the Holy Resurrection (22 Sheptytsky Square) at 10:30 a.m.

 The burial process is at 11:30 a.m. on the Heroes Alley in the village of Chukalivka (city cemetery).

 Marko Zenoviovych Vuyanko was born on August 26, 1991 in Ivano-Frankivsk.

In 1998, he went to Ivano-Frankivsk secondary school I-III grade No. 5. Since childhood, Marko was interested in history and its research. He was the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition for the defense of scientific research works of students – members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the archeology section.

 In 2008, he entered the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. During his student years, he was an active participant in archaeological research expeditions. For some time, Marko worked as a researcher at the “Heroes of the Dnipro” military-historical museum. He was also interested in tourism and travel.

From May 2014 to 2016, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In 2016, he was enrolled in the reserve.

 In 2020, he decided to continue his scientific activities and enrolled in a postgraduate course at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, where he worked on the topic “Traditional ways of communication in the Ukrainian Carpathians (1870s – beginning of the 21st century)”.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, as a unit commander, performed combat tasks related to the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He was devoted to the military cause, because he considered it his duty, being a great patriot.

 Marko Vuyanko was not just a man; he was a Man with a capital letter. He is not only kind, loyal and honest; he is a true friend who can always be trusted. Marco was always ready to help without expecting anything in return. Sincere and forthright, who always spoke the truth, even if it was difficult.

In addition, Marko was a wonderful son, friend, brother. He was an exceptional individual, a devoted patriot who gave his life for the peace and freedom of our country. He was distinguished by great achievements both in the scientific field and on the battlefield.
