Askold Lozynsky was awarded the title of honorary professor of PNU

Today, May 2, the rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, presented the diploma of honorary professor to Askold Lozynsky, an outstanding political and public figure, the long-term Chairman of the World Congress of Ukrainians, the chairman of the Foundation of the Ukrainian Free University. Such a high title was awarded to Mr. Askold in accordance with the resolution of the Academic Council of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University on December 22, 2023.

The rector especially noted the long-term cooperation of the Lozynsky Foundation with the University. The Foundation’s assistance enables the best students of PNU from low-income families to receive a good monetary scholarship for 10 months of the academic year. Moreover, with its special scholarship, the Foundation recognizes the best master’s thesis.

The dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations Ihor Hurak delivered the eulogy of the honorary professor.

We will remind you that Askold Lozynsky, despite his American citizenship and birth in the USA, proved his dedication to the development of Ukraine through years of hard work. His activities are of great importance for a better understanding and support of Ukraine in the civilized world. At the same time, he actively helps Ukrainians in our country itself. This includes a wide variety of charitable activities, starting from the purchase of non-lethal weapons needed by our military, ending with financial assistance for talented Ukrainian youth.

Starting from 2018, with his support, 10 students of the University with a difficult financial situation receive a scholarship from the Lozynsky Foundation. Aid of 1,000 US dollars was also awarded annually to a graduate of the University for the Best Master’s Thesis. In 2022, taking into account the difficult circumstances in which Ukrainian society finds itself in the conditions of large-scale Russian aggression, the number of scholarships increased to twelve.
