On May 23, as part of the project “History in Artifacts: The Present of the Russian-Ukrainian War” and in honor of Heroes’ Day, the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations held a meeting with Ivan Markovetsky, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian War and part-time graduate of the Faculty.
The event began at the stand with photos of the fallen students and graduates of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations with the opening speech of the captain of the Faculty team that won the grant from the “Warm City” platform, Vladyslav Polivchuk. A moment of silence was held in memory of students, graduates of the Faculty and all those who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Ihor Hurak, Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, made a speech in which he emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of and helping the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Later, those present moved to the museum and exhibition space dedicated to the Russian-Ukrainian war. There, Ivan Markovetsky presented a personal chevron for the exhibition, which was used in the 102nd separate brigade of territorial defense until the approval of the symbols of the military unit.
Ivan Markovetsky talked about his pre-war life; formation of personal national consciousness; the first days of a full-scale invasion; sending to the front; living in a war zone; vivid front memories and rehabilitation. After the main block, everyone had the opportunity to ask his or her own questions. The event ended with a joint photo.
