Defense of coursework on methods of teaching history and psychological and pedagogical disciplines

On May 30, 2024, the defense of coursework on the methodology of teaching history and psychological and pedagogical disciplines of students of the III year of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) of the “Bachelor” OR (full-time education) took place. As part of the defense of coursework, three commissions have formed. They included teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine and History Teaching Methods and the Department of Social Psychology, Prof. Raykivskyi I.Ya., Assoc. Halytska-Diduh T.V., Assoc. Drohomyretska L.R., Assoc. Yegreshiy O.I., Assoc. Korolko A.Z., leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology of the Carpathians B.V. Paska, Assoc. Smetaniak V.I. In their speeches during the defense of the results of their work, 33 students of SOI-31 and SOI-32 drew attention to the reasoning behind the choice of the research topic and its disclosure. They confirmed their fluency in the material, outlined the degree of independence in the performance of the work, and determined the personal contribution (scientific novelty) of the author to work.

The topics of the works turned out to be diverse. There are the method of teaching history in grades 5–11, the implementation of the competence approach in history lessons, the use of innovative developments and interactive teaching methods in history lessons and social science subjects and in extracurricular group work, psychological and pedagogical features of educational and extracurricular work with schoolchildren, etc.

Having prepared visualized presentations of the results of their research, the students behaved skillfully during the defense of their works, showed clarity, logic, consistency, and brevity of the presented material. At the same time, the competence and completeness of the answers of the young researchers to the questions of the commission members, the teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine, their fellow students, as well as the etiquette and communication culture of the participants, active and qualified participation in the discussion were observed.

This was preceded by painstaking work, consultations were held by academic supervisors of student works. We hope that the experience of writing this type of work will be useful to students who have chosen the teaching profession.
