Press conference with laureates of the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine

A solemn press conference was held at the House of Scientists of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University to honor the laureates of the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine. The recognition went to a team of leading Ukrainian scientists who presented the fundamental study “Conciliar Ukraine in the Struggle for State Independence 1917–1923.”

The study highlights key moments of the struggle for Ukrainian unity: liberation struggles, unification of lands, formation of state institutions and international efforts of Ukraine.

Among the laureates of the award are scientists from the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University:

Ihor Yevhenovych Tsependa – acting rector of the university, doctor of political sciences;

Volodymyr Stepanovych Velykochyi – dean of the Faculty of Tourism, doctor of historical sciences;

Mykola Vasylovich Kuhutyak – head of the Department of Ethnology and Archaeology, doctor of historical sciences, director of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians;

Mykola Dmytrovych Vitenko – associate professor of the Department of History of Central and Eastern Europe, candidate of historical sciences.

Leading scientists from other institutions also received the award: Ihor Solyar, Mykola Lytvyn, Oleksandr Dobrzhanskyi, Oleh Pavlyshyn.

Acting Rector of the University Ihor Tsependa emphasized: “This project united the best scientific centers of Ukraine and resulted in the creation of a four-volume encyclopedia “Western Ukrainian People’s Republic”, which contains over 3,200 articles. We return to the lessons of the struggle for unity, which are extremely important today. We are grateful to everyone who supported this project, and, in particular, to the President of Ukraine for his attention to science even in difficult times for the country.”

Such awards testify to the importance of scientific research for preserving historical memory and national identity. The press conference was another step towards the popularization of Ukrainian science and international recognition of its achievements. Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University expresses its gratitude to everyone who participated in the organization of this event, as well as the media, which contribute to the establishment of national pride and unity through the coverage of scientific achievements.
