Original extracurricular event “XIX–XXI centuries over a cup of tea: conversations with masters of the past”

On March 18, 2025, as part of the production pedagogical practice, a student of the SOI-41 group, specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) of the OR “Bachelor” Natalia Shepitak held an extracurricular class “XIX-XXI centuries. Over a cup of tea: conversations with masters of the past” for students of grade 9-A of the Catholic Lyceum, named after Basil the Great.

The class became not only an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian culture and science, but also a symbol of mutual learning, because a student of the SOI-21 group, specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) of the OR “Bachelor” Viktoria Trinchuk also joined it, which emphasized the importance of exchanging experience between students of different courses. In addition, the class teacher Halyna Mykhailyak and the Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History Oleh Yegreshiy, attended the class.

The event had a patriotic and educational significance, aimed at honoring the memory of outstanding figures of Ukrainian culture and science, as well as a career guidance aspect, helping schoolchildren better understand their path in the future. The format of the lesson combined role-playing and interactive competitions, creating an atmosphere of a real time journey.

Students had the opportunity to reincarnate as iconic figures of Ukrainian history – Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Olga Kobylianska, Ivan Franko, Agathangel Krymsky, etc. On their behalf, they led lively discussions about current events in Ukraine, reflecting on what these great figures would say about the present. Thematic competitions were no less exciting.

As Nataliya Shepitak noted, such classes are the key to developing creative and critical thinking in schoolchildren, helping them to feel a deeper connection with the past and realize its significance for the present.
