Participation of students of the Secondary Education (History and Civics) OR “Bachelor” specialty in a round table on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the princely settlement in Halych

On March 27, 2025, students of groups SOI–11 and SOI–12 of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History and Civic Education) of the Bachelor’s degree program, together with teachers of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History Lyudmila Drohomyretska and Andriy Korolko, as part of the reading of the disciplines “Ancient and Medieval History of Ukraine” and “Historical Local History, Museology”, took part in the work of a discussion round table on the topic: “On the Way to Halych: Rostyslavovichs in the Second Half of the 11th – First Third of the 12th Century” (to the 900th Anniversary of the Princely Settlement in Halych), which was held at the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Ivan Franko. The organizers of the event were the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine; National Reserve “Ancient Halych”; Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. Franko.

Moderator Andriy Stasyuk, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the National Reserve «Ancient Halych», who informed the attendees about the regulations and structure of the work, opened the round table discussion.

The following welcomed the attendees, among whom were well-known historians, local historians, writers and first-year students of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History and Civic Education) of the Bachelor’s degree program: Oksana Yushchyshyn, Chief Specialist of the Department of Culture and Arts of the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional University of Applied Sciences; Lyudmila Babiy, Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. Franko; Volodymyr Oliynyk, General Director of the National Reserve “Ancient Halych”. All of them emphasized the role of Ancient Halych, the Galician land in the state-building process of Ukraine, the importance of studying and researching the history of the native land, and the popularization of the unique and original historical and cultural heritage of the ancient capital.

Among the speakers were well-known researchers of medieval history of Ukraine: Oleksandr Holovko, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Senior Researcher of the M.S. Hrushevsky Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies of the NAS of Ukraine; Vitaliy Nahirny, Doctor of History, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Eastern Europe, Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University (Republic of Poland); Vitaliy Kalinichenko, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Assistant Professor of the Department of World History, Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University; Ostap Kardash, Doctor of Philosophy (History and Archaeology), Assistant Professor of the Department of World History of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations and Leading Specialist of the Center for Medieval Studies of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
