Defense of production pedagogical practice by fourth-year students of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) OR “Bachelor”

On April 8, 2025, the defense of the production pedagogical practice in secondary education institutions was held for students of groups SOI-41 and SOI-42 of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (History) of the OR “Bachelor” (full-time form of study) (the head of the practice methodologist is the leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians Bohdan Paska). The students underwent practice in the lyceums of the city of Ivano-Frankivsk and schools at their place of residence.

During the defense, the students, in the presence of the head methodologists, spoke about the peculiarities of passing the production pedagogical practice in the 4th year, shared their experience of conducting interactive classes on the history of Ukraine, world history, the basics of law and civic education in grades 8–10. Higher education applicants focused on the new experience they gained during lessons in social studies subjects, drew attention to the need to take into account the characteristics of students of this age category, and gave valuable advice and recommendations to teachers on improving the educational program. Head of production pedagogical practice Bohdan Paska, together with the head of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History Ihor Raykivskyi and the guarantor of the educational program “Secondary Education (History)” of the OR “Bachelor” Andriy Korolko, carefully reviewed the materials of the students’ practice: the calendar schedule of the practice, the psychological and pedagogical diary of the student-intern, the characteristic of the student-intern from the leadership of the schools, the student-intern’s report on the practice, summaries of the lessons held, the educational event, the psychological and pedagogical characteristic of the class, the individual task, and asked each student questions regarding the conditions of the practice, the content of the tasks performed, possible difficulties in their implementation, etc.

Present during the defense, the supervisors-methodologists of the student interns, Professor Ihor Pylypiv, Associate Professors Tamara Halytska-Didukh, Oleg Yehreshiy, Lyudmila Drohomyretska, Assistant Bohdan Savchuk, highlighted the components of the internship by students, reported on the current status of filling out the final documentation, and gave valuable advice to future teachers for their future work in the profession.

During the internship, all students gained valuable experience in conducting lessons, extracurricular and educational activities, creating educational and methodological complexes for the formation of media literacy in students, creating lesson plans. We believe that most of them will continue to acquire professional competencies during their studies in the master’s degree and, ultimately, will become highly qualified specialists – teachers of history, civic education and law.
