A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed within the framework of the project “Living History of the Revival of the UGCC: Historical Foundations and Methods”

On April 11, 2025, in the premises of the Ivano-Frankivsk Theological Seminary, named after St. Martyr. Josaphat, the acting rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Oleh Turiy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk of the UGCC Volodymyr Viityshyn, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the Prosvita society, rector of the Ivano-Frankivsk Academy of John Chrysostom, Father Oleh Kaskiv signed a Memorandum of Cooperation within the framework of the project “Living History of the Revival of the UGCC: Historical Foundations and Methods” in the context of celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church’s emergence from the underground. The following also participated in the celebrations and training: Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations Ihor Hurak, Associate Professor of the Department of History of Ukraine and Methods of Teaching History Oleh Yehreshiy, Associate Professor of the Department of Ethnology and Archaeology Svitlana Boyan-Hladka, Postgraduate Student of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University Andriy Gresko, students of the SOI-42 group of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations Blyshchuk Marina, Kalinchuk Yana, Kustryo Bohdana, Yakubiv Natalia, students of the SOI-41 group of the same faculty: Seremchuk Ivanna, Ivasiuta Yuliya, student of the SOI-41 group Slobodian Natalia and student of the SOI-31 group Romanyuk Olga.

The meeting began with the opening of a banner exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the arrests of the Greek Catholic Episcopate in Lviv and Stanislaviv. The training “Living History of the Revival of the UGCC: Historical Foundations and Methods” brought together scholars, priests, and researchers to discuss the historical, methodological, and sociocultural aspects of the restoration of the Church’s activities. The event marked the beginning of a large-scale project to collect oral testimonies from eyewitnesses to the events, which will help preserve the living memory of the struggle for the right of Ukrainians to profess freely their faith. The result will be the creation of a video archive, the publication of a popular science work, and the holding of a conference by the end of the year.
