All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists “Carpathian Ethnological Readings”

On May 7, 2025, the teachers of the Department of Ethnology and Archaeology held an online All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference of young scientists “Carpathian Ethnological Readings”, which was attended by more than 100 participants. The conference was co-organized by 10 universities and scientific institutions of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the conference, the following delivered welcoming remarks: Ihor HURAK – Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Natalia PETROVA – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean for Scientific and Educational Work of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of Odessa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov.

The plenary session was addressed by Sofia BODNARCHUK – a master’s student in history at the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Republic of Poland), Viktoria HRYNIAK – a first-year student of the Master’s Program at the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, and Marina Shcherbyak – a student at the Oleksa Hirnyk Bogorodchansky Lyceum No. 1.

Students (Bogorodchansky Lyceum No. 1 named after Oleksa Hirnyk, Brustursky Lyceum of the Kosmatsk Village Council, Delyatyn Lyceum No. 1, Ivano-Frankivsk Private Gymnasium “Kryla”, Municipal Institution of General Secondary Education “Lyceum No. 1 named after Volodymyr Krasytskyi of the Khmelnytskyi City Council” (Khmelnytskyi), Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Chernelytsky Lyceum of the Chernelytskyi Village Council of Kolomyia District) took an active part in the work, with whom career guidance work was carried out, and they were invited to study in the specialty “History and Archaeology” at the V. Stefanyk Carpathian National University.

Lively reports were presented by students and colleagues from nine domestic universities – Odessa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov, Lviv National University named after I. Franko, Chernivtsi National University named after Y. Fedkovych, Izmail State Humanitarian University (Izmail), Lviv Polytechnic National University, Kherson State University, H. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, Uzhhorod National University, Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, colleagues from the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Institute of Art History, Folklore and Ethnology named after M. T. Rylsky of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), as well as employers: Ksenia Tsyganyuk – director of the local history museum “Boykivshchyna” of Tetyana and Omelyan Antonovych (Dolyna) and Maria Dolishnya – leading researcher of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Museum of the Liberation Struggle named after Stepan Bandera.

Postgraduate students and young scientists from Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk joined the work in the conference.

The topics of the reports concerned the ritual culture of Ukrainians in modern conditions, the problems of its preservation and ethnocultural processes in the Carpathian region. All speeches were thorough, interesting and accompanied by vivid presentations.

We sincerely thank all participants of the conference for their fruitful work and look forward to further cooperation on the problems of ethnocultural of the Carpathians and Ukraine in general.
