On May 6, 2025, the presentation of the monograph “Galicia: History of Strategic Industries of the Economy” by Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Business Volodymyr Klapchuk took place.
In his welcoming speech, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Ruslan Zapuhlyak emphasized that Volodymyr Klapchuk, studying economic life, managed to assess the most important indicators of the economic development of Galicia in the categories of the present day. Thanks to his painstaking work, the latest estimates of such indicators as population, labor productivity, production efficiency, price dynamics, profit and accumulation were obtained, which significantly expanded our ideas about the economic past of the region.
In his speech, V. Klapchuk emphasized that the economic history of Galicia is an issue that, on the one hand, lies on the surface, on the other hand, a number of issues require the application of a broad retrospective approach to the problem and proven methodological tools.
At the same time, Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Volodymyr Velykochy emphasized that the works of Professor Volodymyr Klapchuk changed and supplemented the idea of the real course of the history of the region and socio-economic life in Galicia.
Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Mykhailo Kosylo, Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Organization of the National Union of Local History Scholars of Ukraine, Member of the Presidium of the Board of the NSKU, Head of the Federation of Sports Tourism of Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Honorary Local History Scholar of Ukraine, emphasized in his speech that the monographic cycle should become a starting point for the further development of the economic history of not only a separate region, but also of the country as a whole.
