University scientists among the best local historians of the region

On May 28, a round table was held at the Museum of the History of the city of Kolomyia with the participation of members of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the National Union of Local History of Ukraine, dedicated to the All-Ukrainian Day of Local History and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Union of Local History of Ukraine. Scientists attended the event from the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, the Faculty of Tourism and the Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute. The head of the regional organization of the NSKU, Doctor of Philosophy Mykhailo Kosylo, chaired the meeting.

The dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Velykochy and the head of the Department of Political Sciences, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Ivan Monolatiy delivered problem reports on the current areas of work of the NSKU in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Professor of the Department of Ethnology and Archeology Petro Kostyuchok, educators Vasyl Glagolyuk and Roman Zvarych, directors of leading museums – Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine Yaroslava Tkachuk and Candidate of Historical Sciences Yuriy Plekan spoke about various aspects of local history work. Director of the Educational and Scientific Center for Professional Career and Education, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology of the Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute Halyna Voloshchuk, Head of the Department of Philology, famous local historian Mykola Vasylchuk and Candidates of Philological Sciences, Associate Professors of the Department of Philology Olga Rusakova and Yevheniy Lepyokhin presented to the audience the board game “The Secret of the Kolomyia Town Hall” as a modern form of local history work and popularization of the history of their native land among young people.

The Volodymyr Polek Memorial Medal was awarded to Mykola Vasylchuk, Head of the Philology Department of the Kolomyia Institute, for significant successes and many years of work in the field of local history.
