Representatives of the directorates of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine visited the International Science Center “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan

On June 28, a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine visited the International Scientific Center “Observatory” of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian (Carpathian) National University and the University of Warsaw, located on Mount Pip Ivan (Chornohirsky Range of the Carpathians).

The delegation included representatives of the Directorate for the Development of Science and the Directorate for Innovation and Relations of Science with the Real Sector of the Economy, headed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov and the Director General of the Directorate for the Development of Science Hryhoriy Mozolevych.

The meeting was attended by the acting Rector of the Carpathian National University, Professor Ihor Tsependa, First Vice-Rector Valentyna Yakubiv, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Yaroslav Shynkaruk, Secretary of the Supervisory Board Yana Stadilna, Head of the Department of Biology and Ecology, Coordinator of the Ecological and Meteorological Directions of the MNC “Observatory” Myroslava Mylenka, Director of the Astronomical Research Station of the MNC Volodymyr Troyanskyi, as well as a leading Ukrainian scientist in the field of biology and biochemistry, Professor Volodymyr Lushchak.

During the visit, the key scientific areas of activity of the International Scientific Center “Observatory” were presented, in particular:

– ecological and meteorological studies of high-mountain ecosystems,

– astronomical observations and monitoring of outer space, – biochemical studies of the impact of climate change on living organisms,

– development of international cooperation within the Carpathian region.

University representatives outlined long-term plans to expand the observatory’s research infrastructure, attract young scientists, create new interdisciplinary laboratories, and develop the center’s innovative potential.

Acting Rector Ihor Tsependa emphasized that the Observatory is a unique platform for scientific diplomacy and cooperation between Ukrainian and European institutions. It also plays an important role in implementing the university’s ambitious strategy of becoming a research university of the European level.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov, in turn, introduced those present to the directions of state policy in the field of science and innovation, mechanisms for supporting scientific projects, and approaches to strengthening the connection of science with the real sector of the economy.

The visit was an important stage in building an effective dialogue between university science and the state – with the aim of developing the scientific ecosystem of Ukraine.
