On November 24, 2023, the leading specialist of the Institute of History, Ethnology and Archaeology of the Carpathians Bohdan Paska took part in the jury of the III (regional) stage of the Competition of Research Projects for students of grades 7–8 of secondary education institutions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region (nomination – “History of the Native Land”), which was held under the auspices of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Together with B. Paska, Andriy Yavorsky – Candidate of Historical Sciences, history teacher of the Ivano-Frankivsk Physical and Technical Boarding School – took part in the competition as part of the jury.
Three participants from among 7th grade students and four participants from among 8th grade students attended the competition, which was held in the format of a video conference. The participants of the event presented their research projects, demonstrated the posters they had made, and communicated with the jury members. The students’ projects were evaluated according to 10 criteria, including “Correspondence of the research project topic to the selected nomination”, “Scientific nature of the research project”, “Novelty of the research, scientific and practical significance of the project”, “Critical analysis of the problem under study”, “Speech culture, fluency in the material”, etc.
The victory (1st place) among 7th grade students was won by Ilyash Yaryna Yuriivna, a student of the Kalush Lyceum named after Dmytro Bakhmatyuk (scientific supervisor – Doronina Olga Romanivna), and among 8th grade students – Sraychuk Maksym Yuriiyovych – a student of the Nadvirna Lyceum “Prestige” of the Nadvirna City Council (scientific supervisor Samborsky Yevheniy Petrovych).
The defense of the research projects took place in a pleasant and constructive atmosphere. At the end of the event, B. Paska appealed to the participants to continue researching the history of their native land and invited them to study at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
