On September 14-15, the All-Ukrainian Jubilee Scientific Conference “Halych and the Galician Land” was held at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, dedicated to the 1125th anniversary of the first written mention of Halych. The organizers of the event were the “Ancient Halych” National Reserve together with the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
A scientific conference began on September 14 at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. The vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the University Serhii Sharyn, the dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of History, Ethnology and Archeology of the Carpathians Mykola Kuhutyak, the general director of the National Reserve “Davnii Halych” Volodymyr Oliynyk, the city mayor Oleg Kantor of the city of Halycha, deputy head of Ivano-Frankivsk OVA Bohdan Futerko, as well as scientists, educators, restorers, local historians, collectors and student youth took part in the conference. The head of the political science department, Professor Vasyl Klymonchuk, moderated the event.
The purpose of the event is to highlight the importance of the history and present of the capital city of Halych, Halych and Halych-Volyn principalities in the processes of state formation of Ukraine. Therefore, the main areas of work of the conference are devoted to issues of historical and cultural heritage, historical, archaeological, and architectural, monument protection, art history, museology, promotion and tourism components. More than 70 scientists from Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Halych and other cities of Ukraine took part in it.
Before the start of the conference in the exhibition hall of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the attendees got acquainted with the exhibition “Ancient Halych in the works of artists of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University”.
There were many participants in the conference: Doctor of historical sciences, professor, dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Mykola Kuhutyak (Ivano-Frankivsk), who presented his own edition “Monasteries of Ancient Halych – spiritual talismans of the Ukrainian nation”, Doctor of historical sciences, Oleksandr Golovko, gave speeches at the plenary session. (Kyiv), doctor of habilitation Michal Parczewski (Rzeszów, Republic of Poland – online), doctor of historical sciences Vyacheslav Kornienko (city of Kyiv – online), candidate of architecture Yuriy Lukomsky (Lviv), candidate of historical sciences Volodymyr Fedorak (Ivano-Frankivsk), Doctor of Philological Sciences Maria Fedun (Ivano-Frankivsk), candidate of historical sciences Halyna Bondarenko (Kyiv).
After the plenary session, the participants of the conference moved to Halych, where the employees of the reserve led them on an interesting tour of the sights of the National Reserve “Ancient Halych”, and in the evening in the Museum of the History of Halych (Krylos village) a historical reconstruction of the “Wedding of Yaroslav Osmomysl to the Halych Throne” took place.
