On November 2, 2023, the leading specialist of the Educational and Scientific Institute of History, Ethnology and Archeology of the Carpathians Bohdan Paska organized an interesting excursion to the Ivan Franko Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library for students majoring in “Computer Engineering” at the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
Hanna Paska and Halyna Selyankina, specialists of the department of economic and industrial literature, conducted an excursion and an information hour for students. Future specialists were acquainted with the rules of registration to the library, its website, library services, features of working with the electronic catalog, as well as the book fund, periodicals, professional and business literature.
An employee of the department, Hanna Paska, noted that the library is a special space where not only books are stored. It also hosts various cultural and artistic events, meetings with prominent Ukrainian personalities, and organizes exhibitions of books, paintings, interesting inventions and crafts.
Future specialists had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the proposed educational literature, publications on programming and digital technologies: Vasiliev O. “Programming in C++”; “Freedom in the network. How the Internet Really Works”; Smith D. “Thinking like Bill Gates”; Martin R. “Pure architecture. The art of software development”; Henck Rainwater, J. Herding Cats: A Guide for Programmers Who Must Manage Other Programmers; “Code of Fedoruk” and others.
The students watched a video about the famous Serbian and American inventor and physicist Nikola Tesla and video material dedicated to the Ukrainian AN-225 Mriya aircraft, which was destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
A useful continuation of the meeting for those present was a lecture on the history of Ukraine by their teacher Bohdan Valeriyovych Paska. He emphasized the importance of the library for their education and self-development.
In the literary and artistic living room of the library, students had the opportunity to see the exhibition of graphic portraits “Winners. In memory of those who returned on the shield” candidate of art history, assistant professor of the Department of Design and Theory of Art of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Iryna Chmelyk. University students expressed their desire to become permanent readers of the library and visitors to the library’s cultural and artistic events.
