Presentation of the book by the leading specialist Bohdan Paska in the Bookstore “Ye”

June 8, 2023 in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk in the premises of the “E” Bookstore on the street Nezalezhnosti, 31, Bohdan Paska, a leading specialist of the Educational and Scientific Institute of History, Ethnology and Archeology of the Carpathians, presented the book “The trial of Valentyn Moroz: declassified materials”. The moderator of the meeting was the writer, history teacher of the private school “Astor School” Ihor Antonyuk.

During the conversation with readers, the author talked about the process of writing the book and presented declassified materials from the former archive of the KGB of the Ukrainian SSR, related to the criminal case against the Ukrainian dissident, long-term political prisoner, historian Valentyn Moroz. The presentation was aimed at revealing the trial that took place in 1970 against V. Moroz in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk and had an important impact on the Ukrainian national movement. Bohdan Paska talked about his personal meetings with Valentyn Moroz, the dissident’s courageous and uncompromising behavior in the confrontation with the Soviet regime, the key milestones of his biography, his creative heritage, as well as the role and significance of the political prisoner in the history of Ukraine.

The personality of Valentyn Moroz aroused great interest on the part of the audience, so the conversation continued in the form of live communication with readers. Those present had the opportunity to ask the author questions and get additional details about the events described in the book. During the discussion, ideas arose to move the archive of Valentin Moroz from Lviv to Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as to initiate the renaming of one of the streets of the regional center in honor of the dissident.
